This online course is designed for students who wish to increase and develop their drawing and sketching skills. The course focuses on the process of building and curating a sketchbook. The sketchbook is a great tool for increasing confidence in drawing and capturing the surrounding world. A fear of a blank page is many people’s obstacle to create, students will be introduced to some tips how to overcome it. A skill of putting down onto paper what an eye can see and translating it into an idea for a finished piece be it a drawing, painting or sculpture, is an essential part of any creative practice.
The course will give the students an understanding of the best drawing practices how to capture gesture, light and shadow and form these in quick sketches. It will also cover the basics of perspective, thumbnails, preparatory sketches and compositional studies.
Sessions will integrate references from the old and modern masters to provide the students with the tools, techniques and a wider skill set that will aid their drawings to be developed from an idea into a finished work of art.
This is an online course, taking place over Zoom.
In addition to the live session, students will receive a PDF copy of the presentation discussed, and fun assignments to complete after each class.
Downloadable materials and equipment lists will be provided via email prior to each class.
